Nekursini Christian Hospital, founded on January 24th 1965

The Nekursini Christian Hospital is one of the Health Care program developed by the American Baptist Missionaries in cooperation with the national leadership of the Bengal Orissa Bihar Mission. The Hospital is at present under the management and administration of the Bengal Orissa Bihar Baptist Churches' Association.

The Medical Missionary work began by the American Baptist Mission in the year 1953 with it's first Center at Salgadia, Midnapore, West Bengal. The second Center was built in the year 1955 at Panchkahania, Midnapore, West Bengal which was the most remote area by then with no possibility of any medical aid. Beginning with these small mission centers the need was felt for an organized Mission Hospital, where major sickness could be treated as well. This led to set the Hospital at Nekursini, which was already by then a Mission center for over 12 years.

  • The Nekursini Christian Hospital currently has 50 bedded hospital with an Operation Theater, X-Ray, Laboratory, Medical Store and OPD.
  • The Hospital is also supported with two fulltime doctors, few part-time doctors and other support staffs.
  • The Hospital is still serving a major area of tribal and poor people in the State of West Bengal with a much consolidated charge taken at the Hospital.
