Eastern Theological College, founded in 1905

Organization:

Rev. S.A.D. Boggs, the founder of Eastern Theological College (ETC) was sent by the American Baptist Foreigner Mission Society, now called the Board of International Ministries of the American Baptist Churches in the USA. ETC had celebrated 100 years of its ministry in Northeast India and hosted the Senate of Serampore Convocation on 12 February 2005. ETC is the premier theological and training institute of the Council of Baptist Churches in North East India. It caters to the ever growing and diverse needs of the region and even beyond in the field of leadership development for the last 100 years. It constitutes about 300 students mainly from Northeast India and Myanmar. The college offers Bachelor of Divinity, Master of Theology, History of Christianity and Doctor of Ministry degrees. Today ETC has more than 2500 graduates working in various fields of Christian ministry, including more than 800 serving pastors in the rural areas

Service:

  • Provide bachelor to graduate degree programs on theological education
  • Provide training opportunity to more than 1,000 students every year
  • Encourage women leadership, and about 40 percent of the students are womem
  • Provide relevant evangelistic, preaching, and church planting training
  • Promote tribal theology
